The TAVEC Project of HS Fresenius and Adelphi University

Virtual collaboration in times of COVID-19

TAVEC, the new project between the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Cologne and Adelphi University in New York lets their students come together virtually! But what exactly is TAVEC? And how do the students from Cologne and New York work together?

TAVEC – “Trans-Atlantic Virtual Exchange and Collaboration”

The International Business School at Fresenius University and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business at Adelphi University have joined forces to form the TAVEC project with the support of the DAAD funding program “International Virtual Academic Collaboration”. This unique collaboration is the first step in building a stronger relationship between the two institutions and their students!

What is TAVEC?

Together, faculty from the International Business School at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business at Adelphi University collaborate on four selected modules, bringing students together across projects and universities on a common collaboration platform.

The resulting projects will in turn be presented to a wider audience through two formats. The first format: a multidisciplinary, student-organized conference held once a year in the spring. The second format: a joint website that documents the collaboration between the two institutions and showcases the students’ work.

The Mission

The global pandemic, the resulting economic consequences, and the social and cultural changes have fundamentally transformed the previous landscape of transatlantic relations in business and, as a result, in higher education. Through the partnership, both Fresenius University of Applied Sciences and Adelphi University aim to bring integrated and reciprocal digital collaboration to the courses offered by the two universities.

DAAD project funding

COVID-19 has created conditions that open up entirely new possibilities for rethinking and promoting international mobility and intercultural exchange through digital representation. The TAVEC project is thus supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

It is very remarkable that we are one of only two private universities in Germany to receive DAAD funding for a project like TAVEC. We are very proud of this. Over the past years, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences has built a culture of internationalization. The TAVEC project is a further milestone in this internationalization strategy. – Prof. Dr. Barbara Lier, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences
