So far this year 6 new companies have become members of the network – thus a total of 110 companies have joined the Web de Cologne e.V.
In the board elections a new board was elected with Joachim Vranken (spokesman of the board; CV COACH GmbH), Daniel Attallah (deputy spokesman of the board; Pixum), Marco Zingler (deputy spokesman of the board; Denkwerk), Prof. Dr. Richard Geibel (Hochschule Fresenius), Stefan Godulla (Godulla Web, Business, Strategy), Ute Henzgen (Ad-Alliance/Media Group RTL), Holger Hegemann (Founder Finance), Frank Schneider (Wunderguard) and Olav A. Waschkies (Digitas/Pixelpark).
Chairman of the Board Joachim Vranken: “I am pleased that the digital economy in the Rhineland continues to be very active in Corona times. With the power of our network, we will make many contributions to strengthening the digital ecosystem in the Rhineland next year as well”.
In addition to the regular events, such as the monthly Startup Breakfast and the Web de Cologne Morning Talk with prominent protagonists of the digital scene, the association will focus next year on the further development of the digital ecosystem in Cologne.
The digital ecosystem in Cologne is not only affected by the Corona crisis, but continues to struggle with structural challenges.
Improvements are to be sought in the following areas:
- international visibility of the location
- Integration of digital growth companies (scale-ups) and networks
- Offers for Startups
- Cooperation between key players from the private sector and public institutions
Web de Cologne e.V. has developed five concrete offers to realize this goal:
- Cooperation within the framework of Public Private Partnerships
- Further development of regional cooperation within the framework of Digital Rheinland
- Support for the international visibility of the location / presence at top events
- Cooperation with other important players such as the Cologne Business Development Agency and the Digital Hub Cologne
- Development of a welcome package for digital companies willing to settle in the area (membership in the WdC, matchmaking, concrete support in site development)
The newly elected board of directors will soon continue discussions with representatives of Cologne’s local politics in order to achieve the goals.
Web de Cologne e.V. would like to thank all member companies and partners for a successful year of association and looks forward to 2021 with confidence.
