Digital Health in Germany

The German healthcare system is receiving increased attention due to its economic importance and the necessity for efficiency improvement through digitization. The book “Digital Health in Germany” offers a comprehensive approach to the digital transformation of healthcare and includes specialized contributions on relevant areas. It is set to be published in 2024 by Springer Gabler.

The important topic of the German healthcare system is increasingly coming into focus. This is primarily due to the outstanding significance of this industry, as the healthcare sector represents the largest economic sector in Germany with an annual volume of approximately 500 billion euros. Furthermore, there is a considerable need for catching up, especially compared to other nations, regarding the efficiency and effectiveness of the existing healthcare system.

A key approach to enhancing the performance of the German healthcare industry is a consistent digitization of the necessary processes and procedures within the healthcare system. Therefore, a stringent approach to promoting digital health in Germany is sensible and necessary. The three editors of the planned book “Digital Health in Germany” are committed to this cause and aim to provide a sustainable approach to the consistent implementation and benefits of comprehensive digitization with this work.
